Legal Aid of Manasota was founded in 1991 by a staff of two dedicated individuals who sought to provide equal access to justice for the underprivileged. With the kind support of hundreds of attorneys, local law firms, the bar associations, generous sponsors and other volunteers, the agency has been able to impact the Sarasota and Manatee area in a profound way.
Since its start, Legal Aid of Manasota has served thousands of needy clients by providing free legal services and community education classes. In 2012 alone, Legal Aid donated over 5,700 hours of free legal services valued at $1,140,000. In addition to helping the needy, Legal Aid assists local non-profit agencies through the Community Counsel Project. For every case we take on, we are helping to change lives, change families and change our community.
